"BeauM" (BeauM)

For my first post in OPPO, I would like to share my 1968 Mustang SVO. Just yesterday I got it back from the vinyl shop who put my stripe on. The wheels are plasti-dipped, so if I decide I hate it I can go back to a blue car. The only thing left is to get my numbers made for the meatballs, I will be rocking # 2.3 for now.
This is from when it was red, just before I had it painted in January.
This is how I found it years ago:
Here is the complete, super long build thread:

Thanks for checking it out!

Phenomenal!
Also, V8 w/ turbo? Am I missing the actual turbo or is there not one?

Holy shit that is amazing. I can't see the pictures at the beginning of your build, but I am assuming that you swapped in the SVO engine after you got the car? I'll go through the build thread tomorrow night probably.

Yep, car came with a 200ci straight six and automatic. Everything was done in my garage with a handheld grinder and $100 Harbor Freight welder.

4 cylinder with turbo. V8's are so mainstream :)

Couple fun facts:
The car started as an I6/automatic with 4 lug drum brake running gear. Now has a 2.3 Turbo 4 with T5 5-speed and 5 lug, power disc brakes all around.
The rear end is an 8.8 from a 1996 Explorer. 3.73 gears w/ trak-lock
The ECU is a Megasquirt 2, which I can tune from my laptop via bluetooth.
The car made it onto the Top Gear UK website, go to picture # 8 in this gallery:

You say on that forum that you're no mechanic. This masterpiece begs to differ.

Wow, absolutely awesome car. I'll read about the build tonight when I've got more time, but that's such an incredible result. Welcome to Oppo!

Thanks, but I just like to tinker with things. When I don't have deadlines or the fear of screwing something up I can do whatever I want. I wish I could make a career out of it somehow, but I haven't figured that part out.

Don't tell anyone, but another engine swap is hopefully happening this winter. Going back to an inline 6, but staying turbocharged.
SHhhhhhhh.

Glad to see another classic Mustang modder here! I'm gonna be reading your build thread as I get the time. Much of my recent mods have been detailed here in Oppo under the tag Project GR350.

I just spent an hour and a half reading your build thread, Awesome stuff. now to go back and salvage the rest of the the work day lol. Boss is a big Mustang guy, maybe I should send him your thread, so that he forgets the reports are due..

This is marvelous!
And I can't really point why, but it makes me happy that someone bothered to use a 4 cylinder. Whenever I see someone restoring a Mustang, Maverick they start by shoving a 302 (or bigger) in there.
Congratulations! This would be awesome even without the Gulf Livery.

Well done! I am jealous as my 67 Coupe is in primer. I also toyed with the idea of "Gulfing" my car but I don't think I have the balls. I really like what you have done there and I read your build thread some time ago.
